INTRODUCTION
This bibliography is the 11+ edition in a series of bibliographies
produced over the past 35 years containing references to
articles, books, conference papers and reports concerned
with the management of technological innovation and technical
entrepreneurship. Previous editions had the title R&D
Management Bibliography.
This
edition contains over 20,000 references. As the new title
suggests, this edition is broader in that it contains more
references to areas other than just R&D management.
For example, the section on government science and technology
policy is one of the largest in the book.
Since
the 1981 edition, there has been not only an increase in
the number of articles, etc. concerned with science and
technology (S&T), but also an increase in the number
of journals dedicated to this field.
Among
the dedicated journals covered by this bibliography are
Research-Technology Management, R&D Management, IEEE
Transactions on Engineering Management, Journal of Product
Innovation Management, International Journal of Technology
Management, Economics of Innovation and New Technology,
les Nouvelles, SRA Journal, Journal of Technology Transfer,
Journal of Engineering and Technology Management, Innovation,
Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Science and
Public Policy, Research Policy, Technology in Society, Technovation,
Futures, Long Range Planning, STI Review, High Technology
Law Journal and Rutgers Computer and Technology Law Journal.
In addition, S&T articles also appear in more general
journals.
Among
the general journals covered are the Harvard Business Review,
Journal of Small Business & Entrepreneurship, Journal
of Business Venturing, Administrative Science Quarterly,
The Business Quarterly, The Strategic Management Journal,
European Journal of Marketing, SAM Advanced Management Journal,
Industrial Marketing Management, International Journal of
Industrial Organization, European Management Journal, California
Management Review, ChemTech, Sloan Management Review, Journal
of Small Businesses Management, Business Horizons, Project
Management Journal, Management Science, Economics Letters,
The American Economic Review, The Economic Journal and the
RAND Journal of Economics, to name a few.
It
is hoped that this bibliography will assist university researchers,
and students wishing to study this important field, as well
as research managers interested in learning of the experiences
of other managers who have been involved in the challenging
process of moving an idea from the concept stage to an end
product in the hands of a consumer.
This
bibliography should also help those in government concerned
with developing an economic environment supportive of the
technological innovation and technical entrepreneurship
process.
